Dossier Helps Trim $2 Million From Parts Inventory For 5,500-Truck Fleet
Republic Services Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., has discovered and eliminated $2 million worth of excess parts inventory using just one element of Dossier Maintenance Management software.

"Dossier did not replace a company-wide system,” Wickett - VP of Republic Services Inc. explained. “We had been using Dossier at some locations as a stand-alone. We had other systems in house as well.” Republic, he said, took a serious look at three or four systems before making Dossier the company-wide standard. “We needed to have a system to track our costs,” he said.

Ease-of-use was a key factor in the ultimate decision, Wickett said, as was functionality and the ability to provided essential reports. Dossier met Republic’s criteria and more.

Republic operates Dossier from a corporate-wide server, enabling managers to access virtually every corner of its vast maintenance system.

“One of the pluses was the ability to roll up data for a company division or organize divisions into regions and into corporate,” Wickett said. "And our managers can go online looking into any individual location in real time to see what’s going on. I can look at, say, Richmond, California, or any other Republic location.”
